Found the latest Mercedes Thompson by Patricia Briggs at the library. Gives me something to lie in wait for in pprbk. Seems she also lost her hubby unexpectedly back in 2017.

Feds regulatory boy put a stop to insurance corps canc/non-renewing those peoples policies for 1 yr. The horror will start after that with complete withdrawal in CA, hikes to all other CA areas to make up for the loss, hikes to all other areas of the country regardless of fire hazards,. Wait fir it.

Star- nandi: I think that you'd be more thrilled with it due to your penchant for philosophy. If you haven't tried it, give it a whiz.

Star-nandi: Well, it was a mix of short stories, a couple of playlets, all sorts of poems and a few philosophical odd bits. The topics were fairly limited: love, death, nature vs modern urban life. From his time of around WW1 Lebanon/Syria area apparently. HIs contrast of Age vs Youth showed Youth being vapid beyond reason. Age was no joy either. I'm not much for poetry of any sort (I stop at R L Stevensen's Child's Garden of Verses and a scholastic kid's book titled Piper Pipe that Tune Again). I also don't do well with philosophy because it can be portrayed as anything and none of it solid (unlike the laws of physics or chemistry). Can't say as it impressed one way or the other. But, it's something that needed to be looked at and I have now done so.

Treasury of Kahlil Gibran, just to see what it has to say and that I gave it a shot.

Slowly chugging my way through yet another ponderous Orson Scott Card book: Pathfinder. Boy spends sooo much time deliniating logic.

Yep. going to be missing him. Somebody posted elsewhere that he, Morgan Freeman and Sidney Poitier are some of the best.

They do. I get "spam risk" calls frequently. I never pick up. Most of them don't even leave a voicemail, they just disconnect. Fine by me. I tell people that I do respond to that it may take me more than the regulation 4 rings to get clear of my chair (it takes me a minute to wrestle free of lap projects, cats and compy) but I will try to catch them. I don't get a whole lot of even legitimate calls.
Spent the rest of my day noodling about my assorted preferences. Had to undo some that I had put in yesterday. Got a few minor wrinkles smoothed out. Eyeballing a freeware photoshop alternative as this new unit does not support my ancient copy of PS14. It will support my drawing tablet and it's drivers, so that's good. Decided to box up the old unit with it's assorted cables and stash it away as a backup. It works, it's just flakey.
