I have horrible password problems since I sign on to many sites from multiple points of entry and for some stupid reason my password apps don’t always sync. So I am pretty much resigned to creating new passwords most every time I sign on to most sites, which I guess from a security perspective is not the worst thing in the world

Over on CJC's blog, several years ago, she mentioned that she used LastPass.  There are paid and free versions, and the free version has well served my needs.

Re: Computer Hairpulling

They do. I get "spam risk" calls frequently. I never pick up. Most of them don't even leave a voicemail, they just disconnect. Fine by me. I tell people that I do respond to that it may take me more than the regulation 4 rings to get clear of my chair (it takes me a minute to wrestle free of lap projects, cats and compy) but I will try to catch them. I don't get a whole lot of even legitimate calls.
Spent the rest of my day noodling about my assorted preferences. Had to undo some that I had put in yesterday. Got a few minor wrinkles smoothed out. Eyeballing a freeware photoshop alternative as this new unit does not support my ancient copy of PS14. It will support my drawing tablet and it's drivers, so that's good. Decided to box up the old unit with it's assorted cables and stash it away as a backup. It works, it's just flakey.

Re: Computer Hairpulling

I kept getting spam calls on my cell phone in class while I was teaching, 4 or five in an hour! so I turned the sound off. It's been off for 6 years now. The message people get is that I won't answer the phone unless they leave me a message. If it's important, they do, and I listen to them.

I've been doing the same thing for several years now.  The method works well. and I find it's not too onerous to keep the phone contact list up to date as the occasional new valid contact needs to be added.

It's a strange world.  Let's keep it that way.
