Gordon died of natural causes on Monday, May 1, 2023 in a Toronto hospital.  He was 84.
I first saw him in concert in 1971 at Bowling Green State University.  I took my father to see him in Cincinnati in 2007, and saw him for the third and last time in Columbus, Ohio, September 17, 2022.
We lost an icon in folk music.

"Those who can give up essential liberties in order to purchase a little extra security deserve neither liberty nor security." - Benjamin Franklin
"The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane." - Marcus Aurelius

And me also.
Closest I got to seeing him live was on live Canadian tv when I visited Toronto for a few days in 2000 iirc.  It was some sort of local Farm Aid benefit concert and he sang Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald as part of his set..

It's a strange world.  Let's keep it that way.
