Here's a post from Jane on 12 Nov 2024, including progress on the new book. Just FYI for those not on FB.
I'm disappearing again. Desperately need to get CJ and self on track for the finale of the Alliance books. We've had the opening scenes for some time, but (another victim of politics) creativity had dried up taking the characters' voices with it. We've got so many files of ideas, scenes and notes that sorting them out is a nightmare. We've put a moratorium on all things social and political until we're US again. We had a GOOD session the other day. I got good notes and scene by scene for most of the rest of the book. CJ has that now and I'm going over all the scene files and compiling them into a coherent first half of the book.
This sounds chaotic, I know, but that's what T, piled on top of a seemingly endless string of operations, tests, and whatnot for our aging bodies, has left us with. The chaos is going away fast and the voices are whispering, if not shouting for attention, which is the best sign in... a long time.
Naturally, since we're getting the writing going:..my week: Sunday: the furnace stopped. Fan going but not heat. Spokane Plumbing and Heating (bless them) came out on a Sunday and checked/reset it. I'd just changed the filter...late. I'm usually better than that. Our guy suspected overheating due to clogged filter, but the motor is making a faint not-quite-right sound. Bugs (literally---there was a bee in the pipe) or bearings. Won't know until they take it apart and look. Yesterday, the heat stopped again. I went down, shut the furnace off. Waited. Flipped the switch and...nothing. Not even the fans. Yippee. I reported to SP&H. This morning, I went down, flipped the switch...nothing... played with Tanner, went back to the furnace...and the fan was going and there was heat. Sigh. Called SP&H and they will be doing further diagnostics soon. Meantime heat is staying steady. They say the furnace is very self-protective and whatever is going on won't risk us or the furnace itself.
Tomorrow: we take the Devil Cat for another blood test and if it's OK, he'll get his teeth done. They aren't bad, just need cleaning, though one might have to come out. Keep your fingers crossed for all involved, but especially for my little guy who isn't mean, just terminally confused.Friday, the electricians come to split our overloaded circuit and inspect/replace all the outlet connected. Going to get a couple of quads on the most used.
Add a couple of doctors appointments and desperate attempts to winterize the garden.
Screw it...I'm headed back to Finity and crew!

Thanks for that, mahe. It's reassuring to hear what's going on via a reliable source.
