Such a fun thing getting a new compy. I've just spent the entire afternoon getting it settled to my preferences and that includes much run-around by this site to log on. Made it finally, but what a chore for this technologically impaired ranger. Hopefully, I won't have to do it again anytime soon.

Having a new computer is good; setting it up is not!

Well, I'm down to pulling hen's teeth with my bank account and PayPal. Get to visit my local bank branch tomorrow, buy a new land phone so I can call the PayPal people. I mean, how much sense does it make to have log in issues because of this two layer security...stuff...and still have to log in to contact anybody?

Is it the bank or PayPal telling you that you need a land phone? Whatever your current primary phone is should be fine. All they really need is to hear you confirm account information that only you should know, all to prove that you aren't stealing the account.

Neither are telling me it must be a landline. I just prefer it to be a landline. Keeps the annoyances off the cell phone--which is pretty stupid in itself to begin with. I think I've gotten around PayPal's idiocy be making a new/different account--and realizing that having to get a security code every time is now the Way. Ok, I can get used to that. Now to browbeat the bank into letting me sign onto my account with them.

Had a similar issue with one of my online accounts last week. The bank had changed their phone app and forced me to upgrade to the new version, losing my password in the process. I wasn't happy but I eventually got access again.

I have horrible password problems since I sign on to many sites from multiple points of entry and for some stupid reason my password apps don’t always sync. So I am pretty much resigned to creating new passwords most every time I sign on to most sites, which I guess from a security perspective is not the worst thing in the world

Mission accomplished. Bank got straightened out. Tried login in at home: it works. *whew* Got a new phone and individual battery: didn't resolve the issue. Called the service provider: seems the new modem activation activated the wrong voice plug in. Simple move from one to the other: issue solved. Now, to return the new unit and battery. Geez...

As much as I hate the drudgery of solving these problems, I’m much more concerned about identity theft. Landline is probably good - I wonder whether scammers even think to try landlines anymore?
