Re: A place to quarantine ranting and venting.

His attitude is the biggest help he's got--and it's a good one. Hopefully he'll be able to maintain it.

Same! Happy to read this!

Re: A place to quarantine ranting and venting.

Phil had his last chemo treatment today,  This one is to prevent Graft-Versus-Host-Disease where the stem cells actively attack the host's body.  In a way, it sounds like rejection in reverse.  He still has no appetite, no sense of taste, has trouble staying asleep, dozes off intermittently.

Yeah, I've heard of it. It's where the new imuno system doesn't recognize the host as its own and attacks the it like an invading army killing off the innocent peasants. Good luck to your brother.

Re: A place to quarantine ranting and venting.

Phil had a new PIC line put in today.  They took out the tunnel catheter they installed on the 16th.  Apparently it got infected and they removed it last week.  I presume that they used his regular IV to deliver his last chemo treatment on Sunday.

Phil is still doing well, or so he says. He has a few more days in the hospital and then he goes to the temporary housing close to the hospital.  I'm pretty sure visitors are limited to just his wife and chidren.

Re: A place to quarantine ranting and venting.

Gee, I ordered new gutters and downspouts for the house.  The front wasn't too bad, only one fascia board was rotted.  On the rear of the house, the fascia boards were rotted, the underlayment was rotted, the studs from the rafters were rotted, some of the panels under the shingles were starting to buckle and sag.  Wonderful..I have a claim in with the insurance company, they're sending an adjuster out in the next few days.  So, no gutters on the back of the house, and the water is seeping behind the gutter in front and it's dripping from behind the gutter.  These guys came highly recommended....when they come back to do the back, I'll point out the problems with the front, too.  More problems with the house.  I wonder how much a thatcher would charge for this house to have a thatched roof.....

Re: A place to quarantine ranting and venting.

Found out last night one of my best friends had a stroke on April7, she died on April 12.  She was 53 years old.  She donated her kidneys and saved two other peoples' lives.  That's comforting, but it still hurts.

Re: A place to quarantine ranting and venting.

That's really young and it sounds like no one would have expected her to be gone so soon.  (I just realized, she was younger than all my children, which makes it seem even sadder.)  I'm sorry you have lost a friend.
