Thank you, nadi! Cherryh fandom is sufficiently few and far between these days that I’ll gravitate to anywhere that we collect…

Welome in. We guarantee the safety of our tea. ![]()
Yes, our association has waxed and waned in size over the years, and we've been forced to move bulletin board platforms a few times, but we're still here and are always happy to discuss Her books and other authors works.

Just finished Radiant Star by Ann Leckie. It was a decent read, but I was disappointed. Not nearly as good as Translation State, which is actually my favorite by her.

Also just finished Radiant Star. It's a keeper but I'll want to reread it at leisure before deciding how much of a favorite it becomes.

I've added it to the Pile. Will get to it at some stage.
Currently still reading Tchaikovsky's Children of Strife.

"Dancing on the Edge of the Dark" by CJ. The only place it's available is the anthology "Multiverse: Exploring Poul Anderson's Worlds".
It's a fairly short work featuring the kids of Dominic Flandry, primarily his daughter Audra, continuing his work to hold off the fall of the empire. It's like a little Bren story with a different setting, but including tea, naturally.

Indeed. PA has always been in the pantheon of SF for me

And for me. I remember enjoying the story and thinking that She had nailed the Flandry stories' mood and language and tone, but I kind of wished that She had tackled the multi-species milieu of the earlier van Rijn / Falkeyn / Polesotechnic League period instead. Though maybe it would have been too close to Her own Compact tales.
I better go find my copy of Multiverse for a re-read.
