Reading The Architect of Sleep by Steven Boyett. It was just republished in a beautiful edition by Centipede Press, 40 years after its only printing. Boyett bought back the rights after a dispute with his editor on the sequel (The Geography of Dreams), and that was it, until now. Such a good book, hopefully he’ll now continue the story (a possibility he left open in his new afterward).
YAAAAAS! Thank you so much for this -- I hadn't heard. This is wonderful news!

Oooo, one regrets exceedingly having missed the day itself, but here's to hoping that not only was your birthday fantastic, but that this week has continued to be wonderful for you!

No dragons, but the Crystal Singer and Ship that Sang books.
I loved (and still love) the Crystal Singer books. I just read a book by Megan Starks, the writer at Obsidian who did the writing for Vicar Max in The Outer Worlds, called House of Ash and Brimstone. It was very interesting and I tore through it and I'm looking forward to reading the next one when she finishes it, but there were some whiplash post-cliffhanger scenes that made me think that she was mightily constrained by her editor in terms of word count.
I do need to get back to Foreigner, though, and get my master map updated.

I am so sorry to see that this has been made a political thing elsewhere also. It is what happens when people get attached to a story, and forget Diax's Rake (to quote Neal Stephenson from Anathem).
I'm good to go, vaccine-wise, but still worry about the ability to catch it and spread it asymptomatically, especially to persons with compromised immune systems. So I'm still trying to be very careful with distance, handwashing, and masking.

Many heartfelt greetings, nandiin, nadiin --
I've updated the map again -- version 6 now -- since I finished Peacemaker (book 15).
I added a label for the Cismontane Association and also added a marker and label for Halrun estate, as well as some minor adjustment to label backgrounds (that I will probably continue to play with).
I still have work to do: Peacemaker mentions Crescent Island, off the coast of Mospheira, as a site of unregulated human industry that's blowing pollution all over Dur and the Gan people on the west coast. So I need to do a map review and then figure it out and add it in. Also, there's a description of a rail line that goes out of Shejidan and goes north, and that a line through the Padi Valley comes off of that line. That was how I had it before I decided it made more sense for the line going out of Shejidan towards the East would go through the Padi Valley, given that in Protector, it's very clear that the Marid line "meets" this line in Kadagidi Township. So now I'm trying to decide whether to revert (and have the Marid line actually crossing the easterly line) or whether to continue with my assumption that, as one of the oldest Associations on the continent, that the main line of the railroad would logically go through there. I think I'm going to stick with the latter, and add another line that goes through the northern part of the Padi Valley; it would make sense that the Associations and clans farther north would want to do business with the Valley, and it would be likely that a line would go there from the northern line, rather than northern commerce having to go all the way to Shejidan only to go back northeast to get into the Valley.
So there should be a version 7 fairly shortly. Or I might just wait until my reread of Book

Oh, that sounds like quite the learning experience!
Sounds like fun, though. I keep thinking about a kayak, because I know it's good exercise, but I also know it'll probably never get used. So I'll live vicariously through you! : )
How often do you get out in it?

I just made myself some sauteed collard greens today and was talking to the next generation about how they were "tangy, a little sour" and oooohhhhh... Epiphany! I shall have to try this (but still with some spinach and basil to gentle the taste, I think).
