Thanks,  I needed a new book! Just ordered Swordheart and am looking forward to an enjoyable winter day spent indoors.

Several years ago daughter was leaving for work when she smelled smoke. Dryer fire, her teenage son was asleep upstairs. If she'd left five minutes earlier. . .No one in the family leaves the house with appliances running any longer.

Happy very belated birthday, Joe! 72 sounds quite youthful, I was already a teenager when you were born.

I've been reading about climate change and the ramifications thereof, and when my email offered me four Phryne Fisher novels for free (Kindle Unlimited) I snapped them up and have been indulging in escapism. (Still reading the NY Times and Washington Post daily, though.)

I read Translation State the day it appeared on my Kindle! Connie Willis's Road to Roswell appeared at almost the same time. Now I'm wishing for another surfeit of new books, or maybe I'll just read them again. Very different, but I did enjoy both.

Sorry! I lost my link and just managed to find my way back. Do you want an advance on next year?

Just saw on Facebook that CJ is going to have surgery for breast cancer. She sounds optimistic because it was found early and the treatment will not be as debilitating as that for the colon cancer she had a few years ago.

I don't know where to post this, but just saw on Facebook that CJ is going to be treated for breast cancer. She says it was caught early and expects a good outcome.

Haven't been here since forever. Read Translation State and liked it, especially how some topics from the previous books are expanded on.  Right after that I read Connie Willis's The Road to Roswell, in comparison a lighthearted romp that I wasn't quite ready for. Might try it again as a vacation read.
