The parlous state of SF/F marketing - who comes up with this rubbish?

This morning I received a marketing email from a long-term major respected publisher of SF/F.

The title of the email was - wait for it - "Steamy new romantasy for cosy season "

I mean, WTAF ?1?

If that doesn't demonstrate the swirling of SF publishing as it circles the actual gutter then I don't know what does..

No wonder I'm reading so much less SF/F these days in favour of other genres.

It's a strange world.  Let's keep it that way.

I just came across a similar phrase about a movie. Scary.

Um?
I would read that as 'romance-fantasy', heavy on the romance.

How on earth is Science-fiction even touching that with an eleven-foot pole? (I know fantasy gets lumped with sci-fi in physical bookstores.)
