The Quinaltine Steps, for discussions

This place has two rules:  1stBe Kabiu in all things. But the 2nd says The first rule is enforced by Assassins! So, while a discussion is in perfect agreement with CKTC's views on what should happen in a forum dedicated to Cherryh's works, perhaps this would be a good place to discuss what is kabiu and what is not.

Yes, of course, you have the inalienable right to free speech, no matter how stupid, boring, and inane - or even offensive and rude. BUT this establishment reserves the right to kick you out if your behavior or speaking patterns disrupt the slast of the poor stsho who may overhear you.

Ad hominin attacks are not kabiu either, For the kif in the room, this means if you disagree with someone's ideas, attack the ideas not the person who is saying it, "You cold-blooded, green-skinned, big-eared, hobgoblin!" is not a kabiu way to discuss. The assassins would have escorted Docter "Bones" McCoy right out of this establishment.

Stereotyping an individual or group of people is not kabiu! The USA fought a civil war and a civil rights movement over this. The Allies fought the Axis Powers to prevent this from destroying free civilization. We don't need it here.

Scapegoating is not kabiu. Even if they are not in the room, it is not kabiu to blame the dry adiabatic lapse rate on the current political party in power.

Off-topic posting: What happened when Red Squadron pilots swayed away from the mission? They crashed into the walls of the Death Star! If you really have to write your whole life story in every post, I suggest you get a blog or a journal!

This is not all of what kabiu is. Be respectful of someone else's ideas. If you don't like them, SCROLL ON! Some people like to discuss. If you don't, there are plenty of other forums to post in. Having said all that, the Guild will monitor these premises.

Very well said. I think it very useful to have all this stated clearly. My only suggestion is to post it in some place that is more easily found. I remember finding it by accident a few days ago, and today I had to search to find it again.

These rules are for the Quinaltine steps. Though they could also be applicable to the entire site,
