Re: Star's expositions?

So, Star -- have you been writing since May?

Re: Star's expositions?

Thanks for asking, Sk8er. It’s a major life transition for me. I have been thinking a lot about Heraclitus’ famous dictum that “A man never steps in the same river twice, because it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.”

Who plans the journey is never who embarks. That person does not yet exist, and thus is not fully knowable. In a way it is hubris to plan, for the wishes and needs of that later self are conjectural at best. This was known to me, and yet obscure. I find myself now rethinking who I am now, not who I was then. I have been writing about this, including notes and poetry. But I haven’t begun any major projects. Unless you count a poem that took me a week to write, and may not be finished.

I do know that I will be writing, and I think what I have done so far counts. But I don’t have a project planned now. I have also been studying planetary geology, which has always fascinated me. There are so many moons in the solar system that leave me awestruck.

I’ll keep you posted.

Intriguing, as always, Star!

FWIW, I've been so busy since I "retired" that I have no idea how I ever had time for a paying job. Places to go, things to do, people to see!

I’ve had the same thought exactly! How did I ever have time to work?!
