Star makes a very valid point, and I think it's fair to say that the trend has continued to more recent productions in the Star Trek universe. I'm thinking here of Michael Chabon's involvement with the Picard series, and what I've seen so far of Strange New Worlds. I like both of these quite a lot.
Meanwhile, over in the Star Wars universe, I don't think recent offerings have been anywhere near as consistently good, and in fact have been extremely patchy by comparison with the modern ST shows.
But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
I did like the Picard series (at least the first one - I haven’t seen the second).
I just wanted to comment that I agree on the Star Wars universe with one exception: The Andor series was quite enjoyable.and streamable

Agreed. Andor is the best writing I have ever seen in the SW universe. Waiting with bated breath for the next season.

to me, modern SW feels like propaganda almost as bad as the cold war era in comparison to the recent ST (disco excluded).
