Re: A place to quarantine ranting and venting.

I just finished reading "The Enemy at the Gates."  It's about the siege of Stalingrad in WWII, which ended with the victory of the defenders.  It occurs to me that there's something analogous here; may your defenders fight off all these invaders! Best wishes for a better 2022.

Re: A place to quarantine ranting and venting.

An excellent history account was written back in the late 1960's by Harrison Salisbury, "The 900 Days of Stalingrad".  I wrote a report for my History Class my Junior year of high school back in 1968.
As for the COVID, so far, no fever, no coughs, sneezing, runny nose.  I do have the hiccups as a reaction to the Vicodin (Norco) they gave me for my hand and wrist.  Sometimes my diaphragm goes into spasms and then "locks up" and I can't get a breath unless I try to cough hard, and then it releases.  Scary....My quarantine ends Tuesday morning.

Re: A place to quarantine ranting and venting.

No taste...everything is bland.  Right hand pain is still there, I'm using cold therapy off and on, bit of massage.  The pain severely affects my sleep.  Blech!

Re: A place to quarantine ranting and venting.

I had a notification that you'd updated, and was hoping for better news.  Blech, indeed.  Thinking of you, and wishing I could offer more practical support.  This is not the way I wanted the new year to begin for you.

Re: A place to quarantine ranting and venting.

Got a call from my brother, they've found a suitable donor for bone marrow.  Mid-February for the procedure.

That, at least, is some good news Joe.

Re: A place to quarantine ranting and venting.

Swelling in the arm is back, there's a large pocket of fluid behind the elbow.  The therapist taped me up with kinesio tape and put on two compression sleeves.  I did 10 minutes pumping on the arm bicycle, which should help some, too.  Massage, compression, cold therapy, and keeping it elevated a bit will also help.  My rheumatologist chipped in yesterday and gave me a new prescription, trade name was Lyrica.  I've also got a stress test and an echocardiogram coming whenever cardiology calls.  Because I'm also taking hydroxychloroquine for RA, I have to get a field vision test every so often, so that's coming up, too.  Lastly, I take my oldest cat to the vet on Friday to have the sutures removed from her ear flap.  Maybe we can take off that pesky cone so she can eat and drink normally.  As long as she doesn't start digging at that ear, again.

Re: A place to quarantine ranting and venting.

Drat, Joe. (Just in case I'd get banned for more spicy language.) I get email notifications when there's a new post on here, and I always check right away hoping for good news.  I hope you have some good books to read while recovering!

Re: A place to quarantine ranting and venting.

I’m guessing one piece of good news Joe, is that you’re done with Covid?

Re: A place to quarantine ranting and venting.

Nighthawk, there is improvement.  But I might have done this myself trying to do too much too soon.
Star, Other than some fatigue, yes, I believe I'm done.  I tested on Monday and it was negative..
