Re: Vaccination status?

Hi, I've been traveling (or at least parked out of state) for a couple of months, so it was lovely to check in and see how many of you who were waiting for vaccine when I left are now protected.  I was glad to see that most of you had modest side effects, and that no one who had been vaccinated reported contracting covid afterwards.  Good for us!

Just read your note from last month. Egads! I know Canadians are twitted as being laid-back, but on this topic, "laid-back" just shouldn't be in it. Time to get your g'ment's attention bigtime. "56% coverage", indeed. :"Keep you out of the hospital", Really, guys?

HRHSpence nandi:
Indeed, it  was something passing. I've read about such delayed reactions happening. Hadn't expected it after 3 wks, but hey: it happened. Nothing even faintly debilitating for me. Just the body getting settled in with the new anti-bodies. Had to stop and check to be sure it was really something going on  One of the benefits of rarely getting sick: it takes something big to get my attention. Up until then: "meh".

Re: Vaccination status?

Over here in the Outer Colonies, the vaccine rollout is more of a #VaccineStrollout (to quote some wag on twitter).

It's purely the fault of the federal government - overpromising and under-delivering as per usual. Spouting their mixed and confusing messages about availability of the various vaccines, about their relative risks and efficacy, and thereby boosting vaccine hesitancy in the general population by doing so.

I'm keen to be vaccinated, but am waiting to see my specialist medicos to cut throught the bovine excrement disinformation before I do so.

It's a strange world.  Let's keep it that way.

I hear you on the "mixed and confusing messages" part. We just got done with 4 yrs of that sort of horse hockey on everything. Jump up and down until you get both shots. Give whoever no peace until they get it to you.

Re: Vaccination status?

Here in Nevada we had two things going for us. The economy is tourist based and the Clark County School District is the 3rd largest in the USA. Both were pushing for vaccination as fast and uniformly as possible. CCSD employees got the jab early on and then certain neighborhoods were targeted. The churches in the black and hispanic communities were enlisted and so were the food banks.

Re: Vaccination status?

I got my 2nd dose 4/22. I should have been able to get it in January, but getting an appointment was impossible. I almost had one in March, but while I was figuring out which button to push, the screen jumped to a "no appointments available" message.

Re: Vaccination status?

NY has been good about vaccines. Spouse and I got our seconds in mid February and our 21 and 20 yr old children have now been completely vaccinated as well. NY has put vaccination sites in many interesting places, in the subways, under the great whale at the natural history museum, and so on.

Re: Vaccination status?

Under the Whale would have been a much more entertaining site then the gym at the local Community College where I got mine!
